Both applications have been added to the Stable PPA. Some users are reporting a solid-color background on some themes with the latest release. A workaround is posted here.

Both applications will be updated for supported Ubuntu releases at the Stable PPA this week, and will make their way into Ubuntu 15.10 as regular updates.
